The nature of science is an issue subject to ongoing debate because of its representation within institutions and public forums. It is common for the general public to believe and assume what is being dubbed ‘scientific knowledge,’ as correct and legitimate, without much respect to its authenticity. In public forums, scientific claims are characterised by reproducibility and methodology where scientists are represented as those with higher regard. In contrast, evidence demonstrates that reproducibility in scientific research should be questioned in light of concerns regarding scientific truth, error and misconduct within scientific practices. Therefore, due to these concerns, it is important to consider how such standards come to be accepted and what constitutes something as scientific within scientific institutions and communities.
